In a significant legal development on October 31, 2023, an Accra court concluded a three-year case, confirming that Asamoah Gyan, the former Black Stars captain, is indeed the biological father of the three children belonging to wife Gifty Gyan

This case garnered attention not only for its duration but also due to Asamoah Gyan’s prominence as Africa’s top scorer at a FIFA World Cup tournament during his tenure with Sunderland and Al Ain.

The court’s ruling mandated Asamoah Gyan to provide financial support to his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan, setting a monthly payment of twenty-five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc25,000) for the well-being and upbringing of their three children. However, this amount specifically excludes expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and other potential costs associated with raising children.
