The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed skepticism over the fight of Galamsey by the President Akufo-Addo.

According to the opposition party the President has not repented from shielding and protecting his own people engaged in the menace.

President of Ghana, in an engagement with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Kumasi expressed his intention not to shield any government found in culpable in engaging in galamsey.

National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi addressed the Press in Accra on Thursday, October 6, 2022, and said the President is not walking the talk.

In a quote, he said “President Akufo-Addo’s comment on this matter shows clearly that he hasn’t repented from shielding his officials who are engaged in illegal mining and proves what a walking contradiction he is, as he continues to skirt around this very important issue”.

According to Sammy Gyamfi “the Ghanaian people are simply tired of the President’s cocktail of empty and useless rhetoric on this subject of galamsey. We are saying to him today, that it is either we begin to see action on his part or he should simply spare us his empty talk”,

The NDC says the tactics adopted by the NPP to fight galamsey is just deceptive and empty.

The Opposition Party maintains the stance that the NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo has failed the people of Ghana from all sectors of the economy and slams the vice president being the head of the economic management team for doing very little in this economic crises Ghanaians find themselves.
