In an ongoing investigation linked to a scandal involving substantial sums of money reportedly misappropriated by her domestic aides at her residence in Accra, former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, faces further complications as Dollar and Cedi accounts get frozen by the Special Prosecutor

Reports have confirmed that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken the step to freeze both her cedi and dollar accounts as part of the inquiry.

The OSP’s actions encompass not only the frozen accounts but also the recovery of seized funds from Madam Dapaah’s residence. The inquiry stems from the revelation that the ex-minister maintained an excess of $1 million within her home.

This development transpires concurrently with the police and Attorney General’s pursuit of individuals implicated in the theft of said funds from Dapaah’s abode.

Her situation garnered substantial attention in July 2023 when allegations surfaced that her household staff had been brought to court on charges of purloining $1 million, 300,000 euros, as well as significant amounts of cedis and personal belongings, ultimately prompting her resignation.

Following public outcry, Dapaah stepped down from her role, subsequently facing arrest by the OSP. She was later released on bail. The situation unfolded with the OSP conducting a search of her former residence on Monday, July 24, 2023.

The OSP disclosed in a statement on 24 July 2023, updating the public on the under his investigation.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who resigned from the position of Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources on 22 July 2023, was placed under arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in respect of suspected corruption and corruption-related offences regarding large amounts of money and other valuable items reportedly stolen from her residence. The OSP’s statement indicated.
