The government Ghana has successfully secured a transformative fleet of 12 modern trains from Poland, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to enhance its rail network and advance the overall transportation sector.
According to information sourced from the Polish website “RK,” the inaugural unit is currently undergoing final tests at the Pesa factory in Bydgoszcz. There are indications that the state-of-the-art diesel multiple unit is expected to reach Ghana by the end of this month.
This strategic acquisition aligns with the government’s commitment to elevate and expand Ghana’s railway system, emphasizing the delivery of efficient, reliable, and sustainable transportation solutions. The introduction of these cutting-edge trains responds to the escalating demand for contemporary and comfortable travel options.
Designed for operation on both regional and long-distance lines of Ghana Railways, the initial batch of 12 modern diesel-powered trains is slated for delivery from Poland by the middle of the upcoming month.
As part of the comprehensive agreement with the Ghanaian Railways, provisions have been made for 12 diesel multiple units, with an additional 10 units as an optional consideration for the contracting party. Notably, the technical specifications closely resemble those of the RegioFox units crafted by Bydgoszcz for Czech Railways.
