Accra Hearts of Oak have won today’s match in a one-goal thriller but that wasn’t enough to see them qualify for the next round of the competition.

Accra Hearts of Oak got eliminated from the competition by Malian side AS Real Bamako at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 16th, 2022.

Prior to the match, Accra Hearts of Oak were very optimistic of a win with some of the players predicting a 4-0 scoreline against the Malian side AS Real Bamako which would have seen them through to the next stage.

Caleb Amankwah scored an awesome volley to keep Hearts of Oak’s hope alive on the 89th minute

Obeng Jr. also made a promising move to get the attention of the referee for a penalty but unfortunately Hearts of Oak only clinched a 1-0 victory which wasn’t enough to get them qualify for the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.

AS Real Bamako beat Hearts of Oak 3-0 in the first leg in Mali a week ago at the 35,000-capacity Stade Modibo Keïta Bamako. This emphatic win gave AS Real Bamako a comfortable stretch.

Hearts of Oak fans have expressed disappointment following the match. Some fans however were expectant of the game’s outcome as a comeback from 3-0 loss is possible but challenging.
