Benedicta Atigodo, a 35-year-old single mother of three, finds herself in a dire situation as floodwaters from the Akosombo dam spillage displace her from Mepe, a town located in the North Tongue District of the Volta Region
The recent flooding has not only disrupted her living arrangements but has also instilled the fear of potential homelessness once the floodwaters recede.
In addition to the personal upheaval caused by the floods, Benedicta, a skilled professional hairdresser, has suffered a severe blow to her livelihood. The floodwaters have not spared her hairdressing salon, which serves as the primary source of income for her family.
The loss of both personal belongings and the means to sustain her family has plunged Benedicta into exceptionally challenging circumstances. Managing to provide for her children in the absence of a stable income is proving to be a significant struggle at the temporary camp where she currently resides.
Benedicta’s story reflects the harsh reality faced by many individuals displaced by natural disasters, highlighting the immediate need for support and assistance in rebuilding lives after such devastating events.
