A candidate for senate in Nigeria has been grisly murdered following following killings of 7 policemen ahead of the country’s general elections on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Nigerian Police said on Thursday: the the killings occurred in Enugu State where the senatorial candidate and driver of campaign bus were gruesomely killed.

The country has turned chaotic as it has witnessed another gruesome killings following killings of 7 policemen over the weekend.

In a statement released by police spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, three officers were murdered from explosives used by gunmen at a police station in Idemili local government area.

He added that automatic guns and petrol bombs were used to attack two other police stations in Idemili and Oyi local government area, claiming 4 lives who were all police officers.

The inspector general of police (IGP) has announced some measures to curb the violence and potential internal aggression.

The IGP has issued communiqué restricting vehicular movement between the hours of 12am and 6pm except for essential services.

He assured the country of dealing hoodlums and trouble makers who intend to cause fear and panic ahead of the elections.
