In a recent statement, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom claimed that Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo regrets appointing Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister.
Dr. Nduom alleged that the president initially saw Ofori-Atta, who managed campaign funding, as a fitting leader for the nation’s economy, but “this decision proved misguided.”
Nduom criticized Ofori-Atta’s management of the economy, stating, “the financial sector has been set on a path of destruction.” Many, especially opposition members, blame the former finance minister for the economic downturn, with Ghana’s debt and inflation worsening.
In his analysis, Dr. Nduom urged accountability and warned that the economy’s “owners” should face consequences. He shared these views during a recent Facebook Live, emphasizing the need for leaders who prioritize the people’s welfare.

He is the one the President trusted to raise money for his campaigns, and then when they won power, they entrusted him with running the economy.
This has proven the old saying that it’s not necessarily those who help bring you to power who will make you successful once you get there, I believe the President has regretted the decision to place our economy in the hands of the investment analyst who became Finance Minister, Mr Ofori-Atta, he remarked.
