Electricity Company of Ghana Assures Public There Will be No Load Shedding Also Known As Dumsor Timetable

Electricity Company of Ghana Assures there will no be load shedding also as Dumsor Timetable

Recent power interruptions, and expectations from the public concerning a looming load shedding also known as Dumsor have compelled the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to assure the public that there will be no need for a timetable.

Laila Abubakar, serving as the External Communications Manager at ECG, provided clarification on the matter, emphasizing that various factors may contribute to the recent power cuts.

Contrary to speculation, Abubakar stated that the resurgence of ‘dumsor’ has not occurred, and the recent interruptions should not be attributed to the systematic power outages experienced in previous years.

This reassurance from ECG seeks to dispel fears and misconceptions surrounding the current state of Ghana’s power supply.

Despite the challenges in power supply, the ECG asserts that the current situation does not warrant the implementation of scheduled power cuts across different regions.

This announcement aims to allay fears of a resurgence of load shedding, commonly known as ‘dumsor,’ which has plagued the country in the past.

Abubakar’s statement underscores the complexity of the issues affecting power supply in Ghana, suggesting that the recent interruptions may stem from multiple factors beyond the control of ECG. While acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the power cuts, Abubakar maintains that the situation does not mirror the widespread and prolonged load shedding experienced during the peak of the ‘dumsor’ era. This distinction is crucial in understanding the nature of the current challenges and the measures being taken by ECG to address them.

Despite the absence of a load-shedding timetable, the ECG remains vigilant in monitoring and managing the country’s power supply to minimize disruptions and ensure stability.

The company continues to work diligently to identify and rectify any issues affecting the reliability of electricity provision. By providing timely updates and transparent communication, ECG aims to foster trust and confidence among consumers and stakeholders regarding the resilience of Ghana’s power infrastructure.

Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Response to Load Shedding or  Dumsor Timetable

The thing is, we just want people to be aware that when your power goes off, it is not always a matter of load shedding. There are several issues and there are some of them that fall before the doorsteps of ECG. We are doing as much as possible to solve the ones that we can.

There aren’t any issues with shedding load. The load shed, I think is what people understand by ‘Dumsor’. But usually, when someone asks me if, there is Dumsor, I ask them what do you understand and what do you think ‘Dumsor’ means. Unfortunately, there wouldn’t be a timetable, –
