Marwako Fast Food in Accra has slapped with a one-million-Cedi compensation to victims who suffered from food poisoning after eating contaminated food from the fast food company.

Today’s ruling has come as a surprise to many as matters of this nature usually ends futile according to many Ghanaians. Marwako has hinted however that management will appeal the ruling.

Background to Marwako Fast Food Contaminated Food Case

The news came to the limelight after the victims were hospitalized in 2022 after purchasing and eating Marwako’s meal.

This news sparked anger and criticism from the public who slammed both the fast food company and the regulator, Food and Drugs Authority who at the time stepped in and investigated the matter following reports from the hospitals the victims have visited.

All victims, whose names are Rodger Bismark Tse, Winifred Tse, and Walter Tse were diagnosed of food poisoning and revealed that they had all eaten Marwako’s meal at the time.

Food and Drugs Authority and the police in their investigations uncovered some contaminated food items that had been used in the preparation of the said meals leading to the victims’ food poisoning.

The regulator consequently closed down Marwako’s Fast Food to further their investigations while some other branches of the food were allowed to operate.
