The President of Ghana, Akufo Addo has delivered his state of the nation address today March 8 2023.
This is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, mandates the president of Ghana deliver a message on the status quo on the floor of Parliament at the start of each session and before the dissolution of Parliament.
Many Ghanaians have regarded this year’s address as unneeded due to the unending economic crisis which the ruling government has failed to admit as stemming from its poor performance.
The Akufo-Addo-led government has repeatedly attributed the economic downturn to Covid and Russia-Ukraine war adding that his government is doing everything possible to salvage the ailing economy.
The President highlighted some key areas in his address with respect to economic indicators and policies his government is adopting to help address economic challenges.
Some political analysts however opine that his speech didn’t reflect the exact state of the nation as the name connote but was a mere comparison speech with the former NDC government.
