U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and husband Douglas Emhoff first Africa trip will see the couple visit Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia.
The trip which is slated to begin on March 25, 2023 and end on April 2, 2023, marks her first official visit to the continent since becoming vice president of the United States of America.
The news of her visit was confirmed by the US embassy in Ghana on its Instagram page, welcoming the Vice President and her husband for their upcoming visit to Ghana.
Some reports have suggested that Harris will first pay a visit to Accra, the capital of West African nation, Ghana where she is expected to meet the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
She is then expected to visit Dar es Salaam capital of East African country Tanzania and end her trip in Lusaka capital of the Southern African country Zambia before returning to Washington.

The White House also released a statement disclosing some details about the visit encompassing economic and security issues in the continent and the countries she is visiting.

Throughout the trip, in partnership with African governments and the private sector, the Vice President will advance efforts to expand access to the digital economy, support climate adaptation and resilience, and strengthen business ties and investment, including through innovation, entrepreneurship, and the economic empowerment of women. The White House said in a statement.
Many believe her trip will facilitate Ghana’s effort in solidifying its economic relationship with the United States as the country is embattling economic challenges.
