Reports of spiritual attacks, accident that claimed the life of one student and arrests of three teachers in Bekwai and 2 invigilators in the Bono Region have been confirmed as 2024 BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) commences.

The arrests according to sources confirmed by GhanaTrends points to wrongful acts by these teachers and invigilators who attempted to aid student’s answer some questions during the BECE.

According to Dr Peter Anti- Partey who is an educationist teachers must desist from such acts and rather help students in their preparations towards exams.

Teachers are supposed to prepare students for the exam and that is where it ends. You are not supposed to get into the examination centre and engage in examination malpractice no matter how critical the situation is.

As we speak, we have also picked up two teachers from a centre in the Bono Region. They are teachers of some basic schools in the area who also had a link person who was taking some pictures from the examination hall and sending it to them to solve for the children. So they also have been handed to the police. He remarked.

in other reports two kids were involved in an accident that took the life of one child who was to write his Basic Education Certificate Examinations. The tragic and sad event happened when the two kids were escorting their sister who had visited them a day prior to their exam.

Another kid is reportedly being tormented by some unknown ‘spirit’ according to the family that has rendered this kid from having the sanity of mind to read and write. The kid is said to have been taken to the hospital and also to a church for help but have all proved futile.

Other kids in some schools in Accra have grumbled about the novel curriculum and the difficulty it presents to them in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations but have however said they remain resolute and optimistic in coming out with flying colours.
