Dr. Eric Nkansah has been appointed as the new Director-General for the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a letter issued by the Presidency and signed by the President’s Secretary on October 19, 2022.
“I am pleased to inform you that the resident has appointed you to act as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (the Service) pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the Governing Council of the Service, given in consultation with the Public Service Commission,” – a portion of the letter to his appointment.
His appointment may see significant changes in the education sector for all stakeholders’ benefits at a time like this where challenges in the sector abound.
Some perceived challenges in the education sector include, the School Feeding Program, Academic Calendar fluctuations, Shortage of foodstuff in certain Senior High Schools in the country etc.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Eric was the Technical Advisor/Director in charge of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Eric Nkansah worked as a banker, lecturer, researcher, and financial consultant. He was a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Banking Technology and Finance of the Kumasi Technical University.
He worked as a Sales Manager at the Krofrom Branch of Barclays Bank of Ghana ( Absa Bank) for over five years.

He holds a PhD in Financial Economics; University of Zululand, South Africa (2015 – 2018), Master of Business Administration (Finance); KNUST Business School, Ghana (2008 – 2010); B.A (Hons) Economics; the University of Cape Coast, Ghana (2002 –2006).
