In other development, parents and concerned stakeholders have expressed their concerns, advocating for an extension of the reporting date. This has prompted discussions in Parliament, where members urged the Minister of Education to consider moving the reopening to the first week of January instead.
Parliament’s reasoning for a delay was based on the short notice and the inconvenience it posed to students, parents, and educational staff. In an official statement, the Parliamentary Service proposed the first week of January 2024 as a more suitable time for adequate preparation.
However, the GES rejected this plea, emphasizing that school registration and orientation are set to commence on December 4, 2023.
