Goil PLC, the nation’s oil marketing company has donated 10-multipurpose hospital beds to Asuom Health Centre in the Kwebibirem municipality, Eastern region. The beds are valued at about GHC 45,000.00.
The Public Relations Manager of Goil presented the beds to the Hospital and explained that the oil company received a distressed call for hospital beds as the hospital struggled to cater for the sick due to lack of beds.
“Due to the good working relations these two personalities have with GOIL, the Group Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of GOIL, Kwame Osei Prempeh, did not have any difficulty approving their request, hence the donation of these multi-purpose hospital beds to enhance healthcare delivery at Asuom and adjoining communities,” he said.
Several hospitals in the country including the renowned Korle-bu Teaching Hospital have struggled over the years to cater for patients due lack of hospital beds. Situation described by Ghanaians as very unfortunate and misplaced priorities by the government.
The health of a nation is its wealth and prioritizing the health sector has huge economic and social benefits. Stories of pregnant women received in some health centers without beds made waves and the situation has seen very little improvement.
The kind gesture was received by the Asuomhene, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng the second and he expressed appreciation for the gesture stressing that the hospital has been in dire need of such help and admonished GOIL to do more to help the hospital.
