The 60-year-old lawmaker passed away on Sunday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra following a brief illness, sending ripples of grief across political circles and his community.

Naser Toure Mahama, born on March 17, 1965, in Nima, was serving his fourth term in Parliament after strong victories, including over 70% of votes in the 2024 elections. A dedicated public servant, he contributed significantly to legislative discussions, served as Vice Chairman of the Energy Committee, and held positions on several other parliamentary panels, focusing on development initiatives for his constituency.
As a devoted Muslim, Islamic burial traditions are being observed, with arrangements underway for a prompt interment at his family home in Nima in line with customary practices requiring rites within a short period.
