Renowned spiritual leader, Prophet Isaac Owusu-Bempah, recently disclosed a noteworthy commitment from First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo to contribute to the construction of his church should NPP retain power

In an interview with Okay FM, Owusu-Bempah revealed that the initial promise was made by Mrs. Akufo-Addo and subsequently affirmed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the 2016 general elections. Despite severing ties with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Owusu-Bempah emphasized his reliance on God, expressing a lack of concern about the unfulfilled commitment.

Formerly known as the Nation’s Prophet for his close association with the NPP and the Akufo-Addo government, Owusu-Bempah has recently distanced himself from the party due to perceived mistreatment during his past arrest in a confrontation with Evangelist Nana Agradaa.

On November 1, 2023, just three days before the NPP presidential flagbearership contest, Owusu-Bempah shared revelations about the promised support for building his church in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM. Interestingly, he chose not to offer his characteristic predictions for the outcome of the impending contest.

If people make promises to me, I don’t rely on them.

Even if God through me fulfills their desires, I don’t look up to them, I look up to God because it is only His pledges that are sacrosanct.

It is true when I used to pray for the NPP leaders, for nine months, thrice every week and Nana Akuto-Addo was part of this process, his wife was also a part.

It was actually his wife that made that promise first, that if by God’s Grace we win (the 2016 elections), we will build your church for you’ and I responded ‘Glory be to God,’ he said.

This revelation marks a significant development in the relationship between the prominent spiritual figure and the political sphere, shedding light on both the commitment made by the First Lady and the subsequent shift in Owusu-Bempah’s political affiliations.

As this story unfolds, it provides a glimpse into the complexities of spiritual leaders navigating the intersections of faith and politics.
