Residents of Assin Bereku, the district capital of Assin North, are enthused about their roads being fixed, have credited credited James Gyakye Quayson for it and have compared his efforts to Jesus Christ
The Electoral Commission scheduled a by-election for June 27, 2023 in that constituency which saw work commencing on the roads a day after the Commission’s move to conduct the by-election in the constituency.
The move by the EC comes after the Supreme Court’s ruling that led to the removal of the former Member of Parliament, Gyakye Quayson, concluded that James wasn’t eligible due to his dual citizenship thus a Canadian and Ghanaian citizenship when he contested and won the seat in 2020.
Consequently, Parliament declared the Assin North seat vacant on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 for a by-election to elect a new upcoming by-election holds significant importance for the constituency and its residents.
Several residents have opined that the upcoming by-election is the main reason behind the fixing of the roads as their deplorable roads have been neglected for so long in Assin Bereku.
They further James Gyakye Quayson for his efforts comparing his efforts to Jesus Christ’s redemption.
We are not surprised that they are constructing the road. We will give thanks to James Gyakye Quayson for giving the sitting government pressure. When Jesus Christ died mankind benefited and that is the same way James Gyakye Quayson has done.
But the question we want to ask is whether they will still continue with all the developmental projects even after the by-elections. Gyakye Quayson has said it already that he will give the NPP government pressure to do the needful, and so he deserves the needed applause.
Our roads since 1996 have not been good, and it has not been any better till today. So if they are fixing our town roads it’s because of Gyake Quayson.
Some Ghanaians also believe that bad roads are always neglected in the country until residents demonstrate or during elections with the latter corroborating such claims as the by-election draws near.
The two main contenders for the NPP, Fredrick Amoah Kyei and Charles Opoku reportedly submitted their nomination forms today, June 1, 2023.
