Seth Panwum, the board chairman of the National Sports Authority, has demanded the immediate dismissal of Ghana Black Stars’ coach Otto Addo following poor performance with the team.
His call follows Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking the Black Stars’ first loss at the venue in 16 years. Many fans during the game did not hide their disappointment as they hooted ‘away’ at Ghana’s star player Mohammed Kudus during a penalty kick.
Panwum criticized Otto Addo’s inability to meet his performance contract, stating, “He has failed to perform.” The defeat also marked Ghana’s historic failure to secure a win during an AFCON qualifying series, leaving them at the bottom of Group F with three points.
The loss denies the four-time champions a spot in next year’s tournament, intensifying scrutiny of the team’s management. The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council is set to review the team’s poor performance during a meeting on Wednesday.
