Sad news has been reported by the reputable journalist Nuhu Adams that the Zimbabwean goalkeeper, George Chigova, has passed away due to heart attack
According to Adams’ Twitter post, Chigova succumbed to a heart attack on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, after an unsuccessful battle to recover.
In another tweet by SuperSport United FC sighted by #GhanaTrends on X (formerly Twitter), the club confirmed the passing of the goalkeeper in a heartbreaking message.
Chigova, a prominent figure in Zimbabwean football, showcased his skills over a remarkable 13-year club career spanning from 2010 to 2023. During this period, he contributed his talents to Gunners Harare, Dynamos, SuperSports, and Polokwane.
The late goalkeeper, George Chigova, also made a significant impact in international football, representing Zimbabwe for eight years. His international career, which extended from 2011 to 2019, saw him earn 32 caps for his national team.
Tragedy struck Chigova in July 2023 when he experienced a cardiac arrest during a training session with SuperSports United. Unfortunately, his health complications persisted until his untimely death.
Grant Hunt, the manager of SuperSports, had earlier expressed concerns about Chigova’s health back in July, confirming that the situation did not appear optimistic.
