Recent development within the Ashanti Kingdom has compelled the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to issue a summons to one of his subchiefs, Baffour Adugyemfu Kumani, the Kwaprahene over alleged land issue
The summons, delivered during a recent sitting, instructs the subchief to appear within the next two weeks or face dismissal. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II cited charges related to the alleged double sale of lands and the violation of the Asante Great Oath (Otumfuo Ntamkese) as the basis for this directive.
Media reports indicate that the final date for the Kwaprahene to appear is set for Friday, November 3, 2023, and he is expected to present himself through the Akwamu division. Opemsuo radio, an affiliate of Manhyia, shared a video capturing Otumfuo’s stern message. In the video, the Asantehene expresses frustration, stating that the Kwaprahene is evading him under the pretext of illness.
He emphasizes that there will be no tolerance for excuses and recounts past grievances related to the sale of land when the Kwaprahene was younger.
Kwaprahene knows why I’m looking for him. He knows I’m looking for him because of the land issue. That’s why he is dodging me with the excuse of sickness, he thinks he is smarter.
Go and bring him. I will not take any excuse from him. When he was young he sold my land without giving me my money. I forgave him, you see the issue has returned to me, he remarked.
