The Minister of National Security, Kan Dapaah, has initiated legal proceedings against Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the organizer of the #FixTheCountry Movement
This legal action comes as a response to accusations made by Barker-Vormawor, who alleged that in 2021, he and other government officials engaged in discussions where they purportedly offered him one million dollars to maintain silence.
These allegations surfaced shortly after Barker-Vormawor’s release from police custody on September 22. He, along with others, had been arrested for orchestrating a protest in Accra that violated a police-issued restraining order.
In his lawsuit, Kan Dapaah is seeking several remedies, including a court declaration affirming the defamatory nature of Barker-Vormawor’s statements. Additionally, he is pursuing the recovery of ten million Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000,000.00) in general damages, encompassing both aggravated and exemplary damages for defamation arising from Barker-Vormawor’s assertions.
