The Chief Executive Officer of the now-defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, expressed his surprise at the recent development regarding the GH¢5 million intended for verified customers

Several reports and interviews granted by NAM1 reveal that he will revisit the police to request a refund of the money he initially deposited with them intended to pay the Menzgold customers.

Contrary to the arrangement NAM1 claimed to have with the police, he discovered that the GH¢5 million, earmarked for disbursement to verified customers, had been deposited at the Bank of Ghana under the court’s jurisdiction.

This revelation left NAM1 taken aback, prompting him to voice his intention to reclaim his funds. He emphasized in his statements that, he will go back to the police and ask them to give the money back to me because that was not the arrangement they had.

NAM1’s decision to seek redress follows the police’s announcement that the GH¢5 million has been deposited in the police exhibit account at the Bank of Ghana, awaiting the court’s directive on disbursement. The CEO’s expressed surprise and dissatisfaction underscore the divergence between his expectations and the actual handling of the funds.

In response to NAM1’s assertion, the police clarified that the court holds the authority to determine how the GH¢5 million will be distributed among the customers.

Meanwhile, NAM1 faces legal challenges, with 39 counts including defrauding by false pretense, engaging in gold trading without a license, and money laundering. As the legal proceedings unfold, NAM1’s pursuit to reclaim the deposited funds adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing Menzgold saga.
