The Paris-based Ghanaian singer clinched the coveted Artiste of the Year award, a defining moment in his career after years of being snubbed despite chart-topping hits like “Terminator.” Beating out heavyweights such as Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke, Joe Mettle, King Paluta, and Team Eternity Ghana, King Promise’s victory underscored his growing influence in the Ghanaian music scene and beyond.

The TGMA, organized by Charterhouse Productions in collaboration with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, is widely regarded as Ghana’s most prestigious music awards event. This year’s ceremony was a vibrant celebration of talent, featuring electrifying performances from artists like Stonebwoy, Empress Gifty, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, and King Promise himself. In addition to Artiste of the Year, King Promise dominated the night with three other major wins: Best Album/EP for True to Self, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, and Best Afropop Song for his hit single “Paris,” which has resonated with fans for its smooth melodies and emotional depth. The awards capped a stellar night that also saw veteran gospel musician Yaw Sarpong honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

King Promise’s triumph at the 26th TGMA reflects his global ambitions and undeniable impact on the music industry. His successful international tour across five continents during the eligibility year showcased his ability to take Ghanaian music to the world stage, a mission he has consistently emphasized. Accepting his Artiste of the Year award, the singer, born Gregory Bortey Newman, expressed gratitude to his fans, team, and family, stating, “This is for everyone who believed in the dream.
