In the aftermath of the cessation of toll collection in 2021, physically challenged toll workers are earnestly urging the government of Ghana to fulfill its commitment of disbursing their overdue salaries
These individuals, who found themselves unemployed due to the halt in toll operations, are now seeking their promised payments, envisaging them as crucial startup capital for embarking on new career ventures.
Last month, the toll workers, facing financial uncertainty, took to the Roads Ministry in a peaceful protest. Their primary objective was to secure an audience with the Minister and draw attention to the pressing matter of unpaid salary arrears.
Regrettably, their efforts yielded no tangible outcomes, leaving the physically challenged workers in a state of continued financial distress.
Amidst the global observance of the International Day for Disabled Persons, Rashad Mohammed Ramat, the spokesperson for these toll workers with disabilities, emphasized that this demographic possesses valuable skills.
He underscored the significance of providing them with the promised salaries as a means of facilitating a fresh start, allowing them to establish new income streams and support both themselves and their dependents.
