The Office of the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has directed all government appointees to return official vehicles in their possession by January 3, 2025.
This directive, announced as part of the transition process following the 2024 general elections, emphasizes accountability and the smooth transfer of assets to the incoming administration.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff highlighted the need for compliance, urging appointees to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure proper documentation during the return process. “This measure is essential for maintaining transparency and safeguarding government property during this transition period,” the statement noted.
The directive applies to all categories of vehicles issued to appointees across government ministries, departments, and agencies. Non-compliance, the statement warned, could result in legal action or retrieval measures to recover the assets. Officials were also reminded of their responsibility to uphold integrity in public service.
This announcement underscores the Presidency’s commitment to ensuring a seamless transition while protecting state resources. It comes as part of broader efforts to enhance accountability and establish a precedent for responsible governance during changes in administration.
