President John Mahama has called for immediate actions on addressing the SHS Food Shortage in Ghana stressing the urgency of resolving the crisis
President Mahama instructed the Chief of Staff to collaborate closely with the Ghana Education Service to help address the crisis. This collaboration aims to address the immediate feeding challenges faced by students, ensuring that education continues without disruption due to lack of food.
The strategy involves the allocation and distribution of food supplies that are currently stored in warehouses in Tema. These supplies, which were originally imported by the previous government as a contingency for last year’s drought, are now being repurposed. Mahama’s directive is a stopgap measure to provide relief to the schools, by tapping into these existing reserves until a more permanent solution can be implemented.

This initiative underlines the government’s commitment to resolving logistical and supply issues in the education sector. By leveraging the resources already at hand, the administration seeks to ensure that students are adequately fed, thereby supporting the broader goal of educational reform and stability. The move is part of a larger effort to reform the Free SHS policy, focusing on ensuring that all students have access to nutritious meals, which is critical for their learning and wellbeing
