Bawumia Booed at Hogbetsotso Celebration in Volta Region

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was booed during his speech in this year’s Hogbetsotso Celebrations in Volta Region.

In attendance of this year’s celebration were dignitaries including Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, Asantehene Otomfuo Osei-Tutu II, Kwahumahene and Ga Mantse.

It is believed that the Vice President had made mention of certain non-existent projects in his submission which led to the audience’s hostile reaction towards him, apparently disproving the President’s claims.

“…for the first time in our history, we have Free TVET and for the first time in our history we have Free SHS,” he said among other things.

There are many people who don’t like good news but this is good news.” Bawumia said.

“Ghanaians are facing a major increase in the cost of living, cost of fuel prices and so on and we have to do more to make sure that we can relieve the burden of Ghanaians,” he added.

This has been a recent trend, where the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo was booed in September at the Global Citizen Festival in Accra.

A similar event subsequently occurred in October in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital where the President’s convoy was booed by onlookers as they passed by.

‘Kume Preko’ organizers also declared a ‘booing of the President’ in response to the current economic situation in the country.

Would this be the beginning of the booing campaign by Ghanaians to express their disappointment and displeasure in the ruling party or just a staged move by the opposition as claimed by NPP?

Ghanaians are discerning enough to conclude by way of  exercising their franchise in the next general elections.
