dr matthew opoku prempeh and haruna mohammed defends controversial kwame nkrumah and akufo addo comparison

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO has defended his controversial statement in which he compared current President Akufo Addo to Ghana’s founding father, Dr Kwame Nkrumah and stated that current President has done far more than Dr Nkrumah

In his defence, he stated that he spoke to the facts and that Ghanaians have just misunderstood what he said and have taken his remarks out of context.  These remarks he made during his announcement as running mate on July 9, 2024.

Haruna Mohammed, the Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party maintained that the chosen running mate of the Dr. Bawumia made categorical statement and that means only President Kuffuor had laid a foundation for Akufo Addo to do better, all other presidents performed poorly as compared to Akufo Addo.

He made these remarks on JoyNews in an interview with Evans. other political analysts and Ghanaians at large have heavily criticized the running mate of Dr. Bawumia to as a matter of urgency retract such comments and apologize.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) Comments on Kwame Nkrumah and Akufo-Addo Comparison

They have misinterpreted what I said. I said since 1957 from Kwame Nkrumah’s tenure to date, no government has worked more than Nana Akufo-Addo. In our politics, if you speak the truth, they say you are ungrateful, if you tell lies, you are praised. I am your child, you did not train me to be untruthful or a coward.

I can boldly say that if the history of Ghana is told from 1957, we have never had a president that has helped Ghana more than Nana Akufo-Addo. I mean from 1957, even including your Kwame Nkrumah, none of them has protected Ghana and developed the country more than Nana Akufo-Addo, NAPO said.
