The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has assured Ghanaians of a transparent and peaceful general elections as nationwide voter registration is underway.
The EC limited voter registration exercise is estimated to add around 623,000 first-time voters across the country. This initiative is in preparation for the national elections set for December 7.
The registration exercise began today Tuesday, May 7 and will run for 21 days until Monday, May 27, 2024. It is taking place across all 258 district offices of the Commission, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
To accommodate individuals who may find it challenging to access the district offices, the EC has established an additional 785 centers throughout the country. This strategy aims to provide more convenient registration options.
Additionally, 25 public universities have been designated as registration centers, making it easier for students and others in the academic community to register for the upcoming elections.

As a commission, we remain poised and ready to deliver credible, transparent and peaceful elections and electoral processes starting with the 2024 registration exercise.
It is well known that the voters register is a bedrock of an election. Without a credible and accurate voter register, there can be no transparent and acceptable elections. She remarked.
