The ad-hoc committee set up to probe the censure motion of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta commenced public hearing of the allegations against the Finance Minister.
Ken Ofori Atta requested in writing for full particulars of the allegations against him in the Minority’s motion.
Mr. Otchere Darko counsel for the embattled Minister, Ofori Atta in his opening remarks said.
Our issue is simple… Our client deserves a fair hearing.
All we are asking for in the interest of justice is that you furnish us with a full document
containing his charges.
The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu and Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, firstly appeared before the committee, to tender evidence to that effect.
Interestingly, Mr. Forson explained that he had sent the notice of evidence via hyperlinks following the clerk’s notice to him in a letter sent via WhatsApp.
The hearing was broadcasted live and continued until 6;52pm.
Hon. K.T. Hammond gained attention in the hearing, and as the Chair of the Committee, who was seen continuously interjecting questions and answers from members of the committee painted a picture for many Ghanaians to believe he was rather impeding the progress of the hearing.
