The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has instructed his party’s Members of Parliament to boycott any emergency recall of Parliament.
This directive comes as the House remains on an indefinite break, with just weeks until Ghana’s general elections, adding that “they (NPP) can go and burn the sea”
Speaking during a campaign event, Asiedu Nketiah questioned the necessity of such a recall, suggesting it could only serve the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) alleged corrupt agenda.
National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah ‘s Remarks
There’s no emergency. Parliament will only be recalled to continue the insatiable corruption they’ve perpetrated over the past eight years.
Let no NDC MP set foot in Parliament. If they like, they can go and burn the sea, he said.
The directive follows a Supreme Court ruling that deemed unconstitutional the Speaker’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant, three of which belonged to the NPP. Mr. Asiedu Nketiah criticized the government’s alleged misuse of parliamentary sessions for personal gain. The NDC chairman reiterated his call to action, urging his MPs to stay away from Parliament.
