Tensions escalated quickly when armed men arrived in a Toyota Hiace vehicle (AS 5943-23) and opened fire with live ammunition, creating chaos and highlighting growing concerns about factionalism and security within NPP gatherings. Agyapong’s bid for 2028 follows his notable performance in the 2024 NPP presidential primaries, where he garnered 37.41% of votes against Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s 61.47%. Despite criticism for his outspoken style and internal clashes—most recently with Bono Regional Chairman Abronye DC—Agyapong remains a formidable contender.
