Kwame A-Plus Apologizes to Attorney General Dr. Dominic   amid political tensions in Ghana following latter’s complaint of the former’s behaviour during a recent press conference briefing.

On May 3, 2025, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus and the MP for Gomoa Central, publicly apologized to Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine for derogatory comments made on Facebook.

The apology, broadcasted by GHOne TV, comes after a heated dispute that has drawn significant attention in Ghana’s political landscape, raising concerns about decorum among public officials.

The conflict reportedly stems from A-Plus’s alleged involvement in a National Service Scheme (NSS) corruption scandal involving ghost names on the payroll, an accusation he has firmly denied. In a statement, A-Plus expressed regret, saying, “I sincerely apologize to AG Ayine and to the general public, I could have made my point in a more respectful manner.” However, public reactions on X reveal skepticism, with some users calling the apology insincere and others demanding legal accountability.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has stepped in to mediate the escalating tensions, scheduling private meetings with both A-Plus and Dr. Ayine. Ayariga’s intervention, highlighted in an interview on Citi Prime News, aims to resolve the rift internally and restore civility among political figures. The move is seen as a critical step to address the growing issue of misinformation on social media, which has fueled the public spat.

The incident underscores broader challenges in Ghanaian politics, including the impact of social media on political discourse and accountability. As Ayariga works to mend the divide, the public remains divided, with some advocating for peace and others insisting that the law take its course if A-Plus is found guilty of any wrongdoing in the NSS scandal.
