National Democratic Congress (NDC) Welcomes Electoral Commission’s (EC) Commitment to Re-exhibit 2024 Provisional Voters Register

national democratic congress (ndc) welcomes electoral commission’s (ec) commitment to re exhibit 2024 provisional voters register

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed satisfaction with the Electoral Commission’s (EC) commitment to provide all political parties with access to the updated 2024 Provisional Voters Register for review within a week.

This development follows the NDC’s request for a forensic investigation into the voter registration process during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on October 1, 2024.

In a statement released by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC applauded the EC’s decision to re-display the revised voters’ register, which will allow for a thorough review of the registration process. The NDC’s concerns about the integrity of the register had previously led to calls for greater transparency and accountability in the electoral process.

To ensure broader accessibility and participation, the NDC has suggested that the re-exhibition of the register be conducted both online and offline. This dual approach, the party believes, will enable more citizens to verify their information and ensure the accuracy of the voters’ list ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Statement from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Concurring to Electoral Commission’s (EC) Plan to Re-exhibit 2024 Provisional Voters Register

The Functional Executive Committee of the NDC has deliberated and decided to accept the EC’s promise to release the corrected and updated version of the 2024 Provisional Voters Register for scrutiny within one week.

We recommend that the re-exhibition exercise be conducted online and offline at the exhibition centers.

Moreover, the NDC demands a multi-stakeholder and inter-party examination of the IT system of the Electoral Commission to address the vulnerabilities that the EC itself has acknowledged.

These vulnerabilities could be exploited by criminals to compromise the integrity of the December 7, 2024, elections if not addressed.
