john dramani mahama pledges youth centric cabinet if elected

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has hinted that his government’s cabinet will be predominantly composed of young individuals, emphasizing that it would be one of the youngest cabinets in Ghana’s history.

He reiterated his commitment to empowering the youth, stating that they would constitute the majority in his proposed cabinet.Addressing members of the party’s youth wing in Accra, Mahama reflected on the beginnings of his political journey, highlighting the pivotal role of opportunities in shaping his career.

He emphasized the importance of providing similar opportunities to the youth, underscoring their potential to contribute significantly to the nation’s development.

Mahama’s promise aligns with his vision of fostering youth participation and leadership in governance. By prioritizing the inclusion of young people in his cabinet, he aims to harness their energy, creativity, and innovative ideas to address pressing national issues and drive sustainable progress.

Remarks Made by John Dramani Mahama

The NDC cabinet post 7th January, 2025 is going to be averagely one of the youngest cabinets in the history of this country. Even I got the opportunity early. I entered Parliament at 38; I was made a deputy minister at 39; at 41, I was a full minister, and I became vice president at 50.

… and I think that if you look at the demographics of this country, and you know that young people are the majority, then definitely if you are setting up a cabinet, young people will be the majority in that cabinet,” he added.
