We Challenge You to Name Businessman Trying to Influence Removal of Ken Ofori Atta

we challenge you to name businessman trying to influence removal of ken ofori atta

Minority MPs have charged the Majority side over claims that a businessman tried to influence removal of Ken Ofori Atta.

According to the Minority, the story has been ‘cooked up’ by the Majority to help save their integrity following a dramatic turn from their own pursuit to get the Finance Minister sacked by the President.

Ghanaians woke up to news of some NPP MPs calling for the removal of the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta over the recent economic and fiscal challenges. This, according to Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, was met with a wealthy businessman trying to persuade them to change their stance.

The Minority further urged the Office of The Special Prosecutor to take the matter and investigate. According to them any act to influence a public officer and in this matter influence a member of parliament is in violation of the laws of the country and such act must not be condoned.

Ashiaman MP, Ernest Norgbey, Cape Coast South MP, Kweku Ricketts Hagan and Buem MP, Kofi Adams are among the MPs from the Minority side calling for the Special Prosecutor to investigate this matter.

If it is true, we want to know the businessman, people must be interested so they should tell us because this is a serious matter.

One of the MPs from the Minority called the story put out by the Majority side a cock-and-bull story

A matter to do with the Finance Minister and you have taken this position and subsequently, a so-called wealthy businessman approaches you, and you are telling us this without mentioning the name, I don’t believe that cock and bull story,

Majority MPs however have refused to disclose the identity of the individual described as a wealthy businessman, NDC MPs on the other hand are pushing to get the said businessman named for legal action to be taken against him.

The so-called businessman must be investigated because he is trying to influence a public officer to drop a decision a public officer has taken in the interest of the nation

Some Ghanaians have explained that this is just to throw dust into the eyes of the public who supported the move by the Majority, and to ensure that their (Majority MPs) dramatic turn on the subject after meeting the President doesn’t tarnish their reputation and lose trust from their constituents.

Can Ghanaians rely on their policy makers in matters of this nature or this is yet another political game as regarded by many?
