Christian Atsu is still missing following an earthquake in Turkey according to his club’s director, contradicting earlier reports that the player was found alive.

The footballer is still missing as new reports debunk claims that the player had earlier been found and sent to a hospital for treatment.

The family grumbled about their inability to locate the player at a hospital believed to have received him for treatment.

This compelled the club’s director to disclose that earlier reports were untrue and was premised on mistaken identity which led media houses and the world to be misinformed.

The player remains missing after two devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria which have claimed over 11,000 lives as of Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Hatayspor director Volkan Demirel told Reuters on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, vice president of the club, Mustafa Ozat and the Ghana’s Football Association told the world about the whereabouts of Atsu and that he had been rescued from the rubble and transported to hospital after Monday’s huge quakes.

But in a dramatic turn of events, the club’s director revealed that the whereabouts of Christian Atsu is not known, at least not yet.

There is no information on his whereabouts yet; we don’t know where he is,”

It’s not the case that he was pulled out or taken anywhere else. Demirel said

He added that the search for Christian Atsu is still ongoing.

The Ghanaian embassy has assured to work tirelessly with Turkish authorities to find the player and alive.

Christian Atsu, joined Hatayspor in September of last year. He played for English clubs Chelsea and Newcastle United.
