Ghanaians and sports betting maniacs have expressed disappointment, reacting to an impending 10% withholding tax at the point of payout deduction from sports betting winnings
The tax components which forms part of government’s effort to raise more revenue will be paid by individuals thus a 10% deduction from winnings from lotteries, sports betting, and games of chance.
Parliament on March 31, 2023 presented three tax bills which were approved following the public outcry.
The taxes include Income Tax Amendment Bill, Excise Duty Amendment Bill, and the Growth and Sustainability Amendment Bill.

I personally think the 10% withholding tax on betting wins is too small. If we want Ghana to get on the same level as the UK and USA we should be willing to sacrifice for the greater good.
