Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has called on the government to prioritize efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the Ghanaian populace.
In a statement expressing his deep concern, the Archbishop highlighted the widespread discomfort and pain experienced by many citizens due to prevailing economic difficulties. Many have also expressed their worry over many Ghanaians leaving the country and seeking greener pastures abroad including Pastor Mensah Otabil who advised the youth about seeking greener pastures oversees.
Addressing the issue, Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasized the pervasive nature of the hardship in Ghana. He noted that the struggles have become a significant source of distress for the population, urging the government to take immediate and effective measures to address these challenges. His remarks reflect a growing concern about the socio-economic conditions affecting the daily lives of Ghanaians.
One of the critical points raised by the Archbishop was the alarming trend of healthcare professionals leaving the country in search of better opportunities abroad. This exodus hints the urgency of addressing the root causes of the hardships, which include economic instability and insufficient support for essential sectors like healthcare. Archbishop Duncan-Williams stressed that retaining skilled professionals is crucial for the nation’s development and well-being.
During a meeting with John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and members of the Christian Ecumenical Council in Accra on Monday, May 20, Archbishop Duncan-Williams also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace to prevent violence during the upcoming elections. He urged all parties to ensure a peaceful electoral process to safeguard the nation’s stability.
In addition to advocating for peace, Archbishop Duncan-Williams stressed the need for concerted efforts to ensure socioeconomic stability and well-being. By addressing these issues, he believes that the government can mitigate the risk of Ghanaians being compelled to seek refuge in foreign countries due to internal strife. His call to action underscores the importance of comprehensive strategies to enhance the quality of life for all Ghanaians.
Comments Made by Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams
There is too much pain and suffering in this country. All our doctors and nurses are leaving this country. And we just pray that things will be well handled and managed with transparency and fairness so that we will not end up being refugees in any other country.
Because without proper fairness, honesty, and transparency, things may fall out of hand. And may I say this, that nobody should think that the Ghanaian is very gentle, I don’t like trouble human being, It is not true. He remarked.
