The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled six days of power interruptions across parts of Accra East and Tema from Sunday, November 8, to Friday, November 13, 2026.

Affected areas in Accra East will be off from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day, while listed communities in Tema will lose power from 10:00am to 4:00pm on two of those days.

How this week’s ECG outages compare with recent schedules

This is the latest in a run of planned interruptions in the capital. Earlier this month, ECG announced 9am–5pm outages in parts of Accra East and Accra West from November 4 to 6, covering areas such as East Legon, Adjiringanor, Dodowa, Oyibi, Abeka and Fadama.

In October, the company also took parts of Accra, Tema, Volta and Eastern regions off the grid for maintenance. GhanaTrends covered that schedule in ECG Power Outage: Parts of Accra, Tema, Volta and Eastern Regions to Go Off 9am–5pm From October 12 to 16.

  • November 4–6: 3 days, Accra East and Accra West, 9am–5pm
  • November 8–13: 6 days in Accra East (9am–5pm), plus 2 days in Tema (10am–4pm)
  • Longest daily outage this week: up to 8 hours in Accra East
  • Tema daily outage: up to 6 hours

What the power cuts mean for residents and businesses

Households in affected areas should charge phones, power banks and rechargeable lamps before 9am on their scheduled day and keep perishable food to a minimum.

Shops, salons, cold stores, clinics and offices in places such as Cantonment, Haatso, Teshie, Kwabenya, Dawhenya and Afienya may need to plan for generator use or adjust working hours. Since the outages fall within normal working hours, people working from home should also plan ahead.

It is advisable to switch off and unplug sensitive appliances during the outage window to protect them from power surges when supply is restored.

What happens next

The schedule runs until Friday, November 13. Power is expected to return to each listed community at the end of its maintenance window — 5:00pm in Accra East and 4:00pm in Tema — although restoration times can shift depending on the work.

ECG typically publishes updates and new maintenance notices on its official channels. Customers can check the Electricity Company of Ghana website and its social media pages for changes to the schedule.
