Three nursing students from Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, have been caught in a leaked sex tape
These SDA Nursing Students are believed to be undergoing Psychological therapy following the tape that surfaced online to cope with the aftermath of the incident.
The college’s management has arranged the therapy sessions to help the students deal with the emotional distress and public scrutiny resulting from the viral video on social media.
The distressing event unfolded when a male student, acting as a blackmailer, leaked a sex recording featuring two first-year students of the nursing and midwifery training college. The video was taken off-campus and ended up in the hands of the blackmailer after the female student gave her phone to a coworker for repair.
The blackmailer demanded five thousand Ghana Cedis from the female student, threatening to release the video if she didn’t comply. Due to her inability to meet the financial demand, the blackmailer strategically released the video on June 23, 2023, at 9:30 p.m. The explicit content went viral on social media, causing immense distress to the students involved.
As a result of their involvement in the incident, the three students, all in their first year, were suspended by the management of Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College for one year. This disciplinary action was taken after they admitted their offense during a meeting with the school’s discipline committee. The college authorities emphasized that the decision to suspend the students aligns with the code of conduct set by the Ministry of Health.
Williams Adinkra, the Public Relations Officer for the college, spoke about the incident during an interview on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show “Nyansapo.” Adinkra stated that the college had promptly met with the three students when the video surfaced online, and they admitted to their involvement in the sex tape.
The first two students in the video revealed that they recorded it during their vacation. The third student involved, who released the video, downloaded it from the girl’s phone and demanded a significant sum of money from her. When she failed to provide the amount, he proceeded to release the explicit video, leading to the subsequent suspension of all three students for a year. Upon their return after the suspension, the student who released the video will face further consequences and be deboardinized.
The college’s priority is now to provide emotional and psychological support to the affected students through ongoing psychotherapy sessions. They aim to help the students overcome the public ridicule and trauma resulting from the leaked sex tape. The support and counseling are crucial in assisting the students in their journey to recover from this distressing experience and resume their studies when the suspension period ends
