Customarily, the Vice President of the US will meet the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and some government officials to deliberate on matters concerning both countries.
Purpose of Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman’s Visit to Ghana
Their visit to Ghana according to reports is to discuss matters pertaining to security, economic prosperity, digital economy, climate resilience and adaptation and business ties.
Some reports also indicate that her visit will expedite the country’s efforts to secure an IMF deal as progress has slowed for the past couple of months.
The trip will strengthen the United States’ partnerships throughout Africa and advance our shared efforts on security and economic prosperity among others,
Throughout the trip, in partnership with African governments and the private sector, the Vice President will advance efforts to expand access to the digital economy, support climate adaptation and resilience, and strengthen business ties and investment, including through innovation, entrepreneurship, and the economic empowerment of women. The White House said in a statement.
Security Arrangement by the Ghana Police Service on Us Vice President and Second Gentleman’s Visit to Ghana
The Ghana Police Service has laid out security-induced traffic management arrangements and communicated same to the general public.
These arrangements have been outlined for the entire period of her stay in Ghana in the capital Accra and in the Cape Coast where she is expected to visit on Tuesday, March 28, 2023
