Colonel Retired Festus B. Aboagye, Conflict and Security Analyst has slammed government’s military operations in Bawku to help calm the conflict
Bawku conflict being the oldest conflict in Ghana has claimed so many innocent lives including women and children.
The Defence Minister hinted on February 8, that government will send 500 more to maintain the peace.
Military brutality was reported resulting in the death of some six civilians.
Ghanaians have reacted to the reports accusing the army for allegedly killing some innocent civilians in Bawku.
He explained that the conflict is no longer premised on chieftaincy and that persons involved in the conflict are criminals and must be dealt with.
President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo mediated and resolved the conflict but that was apparently short lived breeding gory and gruesome murders in recent days.
Colonel Retired Festus B. Aboagye however disagrees with the tactics adopted by the military to resolve the conflicts. In his remarks, he said…
It seems as if the military deployment itself is an end in itself. Indeed many inter-ethnic conflicts and other conflicts are never solved through the use of force…the conflict can never be solved by deploring the military.”
Politicians and ordinary Ghanaians have opined about practical ways to resolve the conflict and the government is yet to implement any feasible solutions to resolve this old conflict
