John Mahama asset declaration deadline for government appointees 2025 is dominating discourse among Ghanaians on accountability and transparency.

The President of Ghana issued a firm directive to all government appointees, warning that those who fail to declare their assets by the end of the first quarter of 2025 will face severe penalties, including possible dismissal. This move is part of his administration’s commitment to promoting accountability and tackling corruption within the government.

The President made this announcement on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, after officially submitting his own asset declaration to the Auditor-General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, at the Jubilee House. His submission marks a significant step in reinforcing the importance of financial transparency among public officials.

In a brief but decisive statement, Mahama urged all government officials to comply with the constitutional requirement, emphasizing that asset declaration is a fundamental responsibility of public service. He stressed that failure to adhere to this directive would not be tolerated, as his government remains dedicated to upholding ethical leadership.

I have also taken this step to send an unmistakable signal to all public office holders, especially those that I have appointed that I take the declaration of assets very seriously and expect full compliance from them.

I have asked the Chief of Staff to send word to all appointees to ensure that they declare their assets by the end of the first quarter of this year, that is by 31st March 2025. I wish to stress that any appointee failing to meet the deadline will face severe sanctions, not excluding removal from office, he remarked.
