University of Ghana’s Policy Implementation and Scope

The University of Ghana (UG) has announced the enforcement of a policy to withdraw undergraduate students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) falling below 1.00.

Effective from the upcoming 2023/2024 academic year, this initiative will impact students in the Colleges of Basic and Applied Sciences, Education, and Humanities.

Compliance with University of Ghana Regulations

This decision aligns with Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), emphasizing the mandatory withdrawal of undergraduates who fail to meet the stipulated minimum CGPA required for progression to the next academic level.

Specifics for Level 200 and Level 300 Students

The Academic Affairs Directorate of UG has issued a notice specifying that current Level 200 and Level 300 students, having received examination results for the 2022/2023 registered courses, will face withdrawal if their CGPA falls below the approved minimum for their respective colleges.

Official Communication and Notifications

Students affected by this policy can anticipate official withdrawal letters from the University, which will be sent via their Official UG email addresses shortly. This comprehensive measure aims to uphold academic standards and ensure that students meet the required performance criteria for continued enrollment at the University of Ghana.

Public Opinion About University of Ghana’s Policy

Ghanaians and educational prospects have opined that this move will disadvantage students who are practically brilliant and theoretically weak and better consultative measures could be implemented to cater for such students
