Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has claimed that the NPP led by Akufo-Addo has created about 2.1 million jobs unlike the NDC that created unemployment
He made these remarks while speaking to some party supporters at Mpraeso after a health walk on Saturday morning, April 8, 2023.
According to the Vice President there are verifiable and identifiable records to corroborate his claim.
During the NDC administration, there were no jobs, they created unemployment instead of employment but these days there are jobs everywhere. I have been looking at the data lately and we have created 2.1 million jobs, Dr Bawumia said.
975, 000 are in the private sector, 1.2 million in the public sector, this is verifiable and identifiable data which is available. We are not done yet because there are more jobs for us to create. But when it comes to job creation, no government since independence has created more jobs than the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, anybody can challenge me and I will provide the data, he added.
Dr. Bawumia further stated that his government is working tirelessly to accomplish more and totally transform the Ghanaian economy.
But we want to do more, we want to get to the promised land. We can be a Dubai, we can be a South Korea, we can be a Dubai or a Singapore, it is possible.
Dr. Bawumia’s comments come at an era engulfed with numerous economic challenges and hardships coupled with criticisms from the private sector and business analysts blaming the government for collapsing businesses with taxes.
Some Ghanaians also have regarded his remarks as ludicrous due to increasing rate of unemployment in the country and high cost of living that have left the country in economic shambles.
