The Ghana Police has refuted claims of shooting as National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds widespread demonstrations across the country, protesting the Electoral Commission’s (EC) refusal to resolve concerns regarding the 2024 Voter Register.

The party, backed by a large number of supporters, marched to EC offices in all 16 regions, demanding that the Jean Mensah-led commission allow an independent forensic audit of the register. The NDC has argued that a transparent audit is crucial for ensuring credible, free, and fair elections.

In a statement from the Volta Region, protestors emphasized that the EC must heed the demands of the people of Ghana. They called for immediate action to clean up the voter register, stressing that without it, the 2024 elections risk losing legitimacy. According to the NDC, a credible voter register is foundational to maintaining the integrity of the democratic process in Ghana.

Images of the protests reflected widespread support for the cause, with millions of Ghanaians expressing their determination to safeguard the peace and stability of the nation. Demonstrators vowed to remain vigilant in ensuring the EC conducts its duties fairly and transparently, rejecting any attempts to manipulate the 2024 elections.
