Chaos erupted in Nima, a suburb of Accra, on Sunday as supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) clashed.

Reports indicate that the altercation involved individuals from Nima, Mamobi, and Newtown, all Zongo communities in Accra. The confrontation quickly escalated into a violent exchange, with both groups engaging in physical fights and heavy punches.

Disturbingly, the situation worsened as gunshots rang out, causing widespread panic. In viral videos of the incident, people could be seen fleeing the scene as the gunfire intensified. One clip captured a man in an NDC t-shirt, reportedly hit in the leg by a stray bullet, lying on the ground.

The incident has raised concerns over the growing political tensions between the two parties, particularly as the 2024 elections draw nearer. Authorities are expected to investigate the situation and bring those responsible to justice.
